Personal Career Assistant Training & Employment at Augustana Regent of Burnsville: Training takes place on ________________ Over school breaks. Augustana is once again going to offer summer Personal Care Assistant training for students. This will lead to part-time employment if the training is successful. The knowledge & skills you learn in this position are very similar to those needed to pass the exams to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. If you complete this training and then are a successful PCA for Augustana they will commit to helping you prepare for and take the CNA exam without having to pay over $1000.00 to take an actual CNA college course. Any of you considering nursing and other healthcare careers should very seriously consider getting your CNA certification. This is in some case an expectation for students entering nursing programs. In other cases, it can help get you into competitive nursing programs. CNA positions tend to provide pretty competitive wages as well. If you would like to do this call Evans Mochama at 952-898-8726. You can apply for this training by going to Augustana Regent of Burnsville and filling out an application. The contact person there is Evans Mochama. Evans is the Director of Nursing. Burnsville YMCA Board Student Representatives: Wanted 2 members to serve on the Burnsville YMCA Board. This is a volunteer position but you would gain a tremendous amount of professional experience while working in this role. The board really values student representatives for their input about what the community needs are for their age group. Apple Valley is of course in the service area so they welcome a couple of AVHS students to serve on this board. They would like students to serve for a least a 1 year term. 2 years would be ideal. Sophomores would be ideal candidates so they can potentially serve up to 2 terms.
The commitment is to sit at board meetings every month from 4:30 – 6:00 pm. The bull board breaks into 3 committees (Board Development, Community Development and Fundraising) that are action oriented and report back to the full board. These committees meet for about an hour on the off months of the full board. Students interested in this opportunity should contact board member Dr. Tom Anderson to discuss this position further.
